Cool Colour technology to give products a longer lifetime!
At The Prisma Group, we take pride in delivering top‑quality products and expert advice, ensuring our customers receive genuine value they can rely on. With global temperatures continuing to rise, increased heat exposure is becoming a growing concern for all plastics, rubber and also coated materials.
How can the Prisma Group help?
We have immense experience within our technical and sales team for formulating applications with considerable exposure to the sun and the harmful effects it can have. About 50% of the sun’s heat reaches Earth as near-infrared (NIR) radiation. Heat-reflective pigments are designed to selectively absorb visible light (to maintain color) while bouncing the NIR rays back away from the substrate.
As you would expect dark colourants absorb the most IR radiation and potentially causing severe heat build-up (HBU) which could lead to premature degradation.
Formulating effectively involves using specially engineered materials that allow visible light for colour while selectively reflecting invisible near-infrared (NIR) solar energy.
This prevents surfaces from absorbing heat, therefore reducing costs of cooling interior spaces, preventing substrate degradation and also enhancing energy efficiency.
We also can measure the HBU and Total Solar reflection as part of the match service, to prove the effectiveness of the recipe.
