Quality Control Technician

Role Overview

We are seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our QC and Colour Development Laboratory. This role reports to the Group Quality Manager and involves supporting the QC function through batch testing, colour assessment, product verification, and laboratory documentation. You will work closely with both the technical and production teams to ensure products conform to customer specifications and internal quality standards. This is a hands‑on role requiring accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.

This is a permanent, full-time position on site at SK22 1AH. Working hours are 9:00am until 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Once fully trained paid overtime is available throughout the week and at weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visual and instrumental colour assessments, ensuring batches meet commercial standards (e.g., shade and strength testing) in line with existing QC processes.
  • Document QC test results, maintain accurate records, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor ongoing production samples and identify out‑of‑specification results and communicate issues promptly to the quality and production teams.
  • Maintain laboratory housekeeping and support cross‑team collaboration initiatives.

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • Excellent colour vision is essential for this role due to the need for precise visual colour assessment
  • The successful applicant will have strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to high‑quality standards.
  • Fast learner with a proactive attitude and willingness to undertake comprehensive training in QC and development activities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic technical team.
  • Whilst experience in a previous similar role is preferred full training will be given to the successful applicant

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a QC, laboratory, or manufacturing environment (especially plastics, colourants, or chemical industries).
  • Experience (or willingness to train) with extrusion, open milling, and injection moulding equipment.
  • Experience with colour matching.
  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques for colour measurement and QC analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS365 for documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • An interest in science‑based subjects is considered useful, and qualifications in these areas are beneficial but not essential.
  • Successful candidates may be required to complete a colour‑vision assessment as part of the selection process.

Liquid Dispersions Laboratory Technician

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to join our QC and Colour Development Laboratory, with a specific emphasis on liquid dispersions. This role involves supporting technical development, colour matching, and formulation projects for our expanding liquid dispersions business unit.

This is a permanent, full-time position on site at SK22 1AH

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test liquid pigment and additive dispersions across various carrier systems (aqueous, plasticiser, polyol, solvent-based, silicone fluid).
  • Conduct colour matching, formulation development, and QC testing to meet customer and internal specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing products by evaluating and implementing process and raw material optimizations based on experimental data and industry best practices.
  • Operate and maintain dispersion equipment and laboratory instruments.
  • Assist in short and long-term technical projects, including scale-up production trials.
  • Document test results, maintain accurate records, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. 

Required Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven experience in liquid dispersion technology, including pigment wetting, milling, and stability testing.
  • Understanding of dispersion chemistry and rheology, with ability to troubleshoot formulation issues.
  • Experience dispersing pigments or additives into one or more of the following systems;
  • Aqueous Dispersions
  • Solvent-Based Dispersions
  • Silicone Dispersions
  • Plasticiser Dispersions
  • Candidates with application experience such as within the inks or coatings industry would also be considered. 
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements when handling chemicals and dispersions.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with colour matching.
  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques for colour measurement and QC analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS365 for documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Manufacturing / Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Manufacturing / Electrical Engineer

Location: Bayley Street, Stalybridge, Cheshire, SK15 1PZ

Established in 1991, Prisma Colour Ltd is a highly successful manufacturer with its head office located in Birch Vale in the High Peak. This role is primarily based at our Stalybridge site for our Rotational Moulding Compounds and Powders. We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated Multi skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

Role Overview

You will be expected to provide preventative maintenance to rubber and plastic machinery, electrical experience is essential. The successful candidate will be required to work primarily at our Stalybridge site but also from time to time elsewhere in the group to support the business. Working safely in accordance with company policy and procedure. This is a full-time position.
40-hour week, Monday to Friday 12.00pm – 8pm. Overtime paid after 40 hours.
17 weeks out of 52 covering on call, 1 week in 3 for which an on call allowance is paid.
Call out fee payable.

Duties to Include

  • Efficiently respond to plant and equipment breakdowns.
  • Maximise production output and increase reliability.
  • Compliance with health and safety procedures.
  • Inspection
  • Maintenance of records for plant and equipment.
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance systems.

The Succesful Candidate Will:

    • Have experience with pumps, pipes, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics and hydraulics.
    • Must have electrical experience
    • Display good time management skills
    • Show good communication and work well in a team
    • Work well under pressure
    • Be motivated and proactive
    • Have a methodical approach.
    • Have 17th/18th Edition Certification or equivalent safety certification,
    • Driving license essential.
