Business Development Manager

Prisma Colour Limited is a global supplier of colour concentrates and additives to the thermoplastic, rubber, silicone and liquid dispersions. We are UK based but operate in over 55 countries, our state-of-the-art facilities have a group capacity over two UK-based sites in excess of 40,000 Tpa. We are committed to providing customer-focused service and quality products using our decades of experience.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Business Development Manager for our liquids and pastes colour dispersions business unit. Although the target market is UK and Ireland, we also foresee Europe being key to growth for these product lines. This role therefore will require extensive travel. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to develop sales opportunities, establishing relationships with customers and identifying market trends.
Technical / Skill Requirements
- Technical and sales experience within the surface coatings or similar industry imperative
- Proven track record of successful business development and sales experience in customer facing roles
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Understanding of market trends and the ability to develop strategies and plans accordingly
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience in the paints, plastics, inks, chemical or polymer industry is preferred
- Posses fluency in English with competency in another European language an advantage.
- Formulation experience and understanding would be useful.
- Problem solving, critical thinking and leadership skills
Formal Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in a Technical discipline (Such as Chemistry, Polymers, or Physics, Business Administration), professional experience in the industry.
Role Functions
- Develop commercial relationships with new customers
- Negotiate contracts, pricing and rebate schemes, including maintenance of the pricing mechanism
- Sales forecasting and input to strategy, product, market and geography
- Monitor profitability of the business unit by tracking cost development (raw materials, freight, packaging and conversion costs). Implementing cost recovery strategies early in the process. Also assist with cost down measures and cost saving projects.
- Work with Technical teams on portfolio and product development, sampling and scale up
- Prepare monthly and periodical reports that accurately measure sales, year to date performance against budget.
- Strong MS365 knowledge and use of CRM systems
- Input into the digital marketing and customer engagement plan
